Focus on Imaging 2012

So this Sunday was taken up with a trip to the Focus on Imaging show at the NEC.

There were loads of maunfacturers there, where you could try out all the latest cameras and gadgets, along with retailers where you could them, there were also some really great stands with seminars and talks, and some with models so that you could practice some photography. If anyone’s looking for some good camera cleaning gear I would recommend lenspen – great products – had a little trial and decided to invested in a couple of little kits, definitely worth the money!

Luckily I took my SLR with me so I was able to play about a little bit, the first 4 images below are taken on a stand where the idea was to take ‘hollywood style images’, obviously lighting was key – but a handy little tip for you budding photographers out there, if you want to make the model look imposing and powerful like hollywood actors and actresses like to be portrayed – get below their eye level! I was told – and have since checked it out – that a lot of filming for TV (including programmes like CSI) are filmed this way to give a more dramatic feel. Nice technique – i must try it out some more.

The second stand I visited to take some photos had considerably less lighting but used reflectors reasonably well and you can see the examples of the other model below too!

Now I just have to tidy the garage and see if Dee will pose for me – might have to bribe her with some New Zealand white!

I also came across some fantastic new ideas for displaying photographs on plastic and metal and will be replicating them myself with a few of my pictures – will take some pics to show everyone once they’re done.

Chat to you soon

Ticking things off the to-do list and canvas printing

Firstly, Happy New year… I hope it proves to be a successful and enjoyable year for you all!

I know I’ve got some great things in the diary already, Trips to Las Vegas and Madeira, tickets to some sporting event in London called the Olympics, 2 or 3 weddings to go to, the new cricket season, the inevitable trip to the NFL game at Wembley oh and I turn 30! Fun and action packed I think you’ll agree.

With so much to do I thought I’d better knuckle down and get a few things ticked off my list nice and early this year. One that’s been at the top of it for a while is making sure my spinning logo on my website is viewable on the iPhone and other web enabled mobile telephone devices! And hey it finally is – I’ve even given it a bit of a face-lift! Hope you like it – you should be able to see it below – but if not visit my website at www.rob-pinnington.co.uk.

Also just to let you know i’ll soon be updating my website with a few offers, things like canvas printing, and for all my friends and family I will be offering very special (cheap) rates on box canvases, you know who you are, just email or facebook me if you’re interested!

I’ve taken up enough of your time for now!

Be Well.

Great New Testimonial From Sanderson Estates

Andrew at Sanderson Estates just dropped me an email to thank me for the work I did on his website and with a great testimonial to pop on my website, here’s what he said.

“When we were looking to redesign our website we  spoke to a number of different people as our website is very important to the  success of our company. We decided to instruct Rob with the job because we were  very impressed with previous work that he had done and the fact that he could  not only build a detailed easy to navigate site but just as importantly one  that looked good with professional design and branding. We are very happy with  not only the work that he has done but the on-going support that he has offered  and would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone else in need of  either graphic design or website design.

Thanks Andrew! Take a look at his website here: www.sandersonestates.co.uk

rob-pinnington.co.uk Photography Section Updated

A picture paints a thousand words

An old cliché but still it still holds true today. (virtually) Everyone has a camera now and rapid advances in technology mean that compact cameras can compete with yesterdays top equipment. Even the cameras in the latest smart phones take great pictures for use with social media, not to mention the photography apps on the market now.

But here-in lies the problem. Sure we can all take photos, some are even quite good! But if you want high quality images that will form an integral part of your marketing, there is a lot more to photography than simple “point and shoot”.

Picture quality comes from a balance of a few components including a good quality lens and image sensor. You also need to have a good idea of what works in terms of composition, good lighting is essential and a comprehensive knowledge of a range of post processing techniques is vital. All of these elements come together to produce ideal marketing and branding photography.

With good quality photography equipment, a lighting studio for product photography and professional post processing software let me take care of your branding/marketing photography requirements.

Updated Website Design Page

I’ve just updated my website design page with a few projects I’ve finished this year (inbetween my wedding planning, the actual event and our amazing honeymoon!) I’ve worked on a couple of websites for Porterhouse Solutions, TH Kenyon PLC, Sanderson Estates. Each website was designed from scratch – clients are supplied sketches and graphic layouts, and are involved in the entire design process all the way through to the final upload. There’s an array of elements used, web forms for document upload, drop-down menus, social network links, database management. Each website required a great deal of image editing, and in some places required toucing up and airbrushing.

I’ve also been working on linking blogs to facebook, so now all my lucky friends will be able to see what i’ve been up to – enjoy!

All of the websites were designed by myself and are on full managment contracts. If you’d like more information please contact me or feel free to continue having a look at my website design page here
